Senior Parking
A Piece of Portugal in Spot #27
For my design on parking spot #27, I chose to paint Portuguese tiles—a tribute to my roots and my love for the culture. My last name, Henriques, originates from Portugal, and I’ve spent three years learning the language and exploring the culture in depth. This connection began when I visited Portugal as a freshman and fell in love with its vibrant architecture and traditions. I knew I wanted to bring that experience to life in this small piece of high school, making it a personal part of my senior journey.
Some doubted I wouldn’t finish such a detailed design or manage it in the time we had, but I was determined to prove them wrong. I planned every detail, and when Senior Parking Lot Day came, I was ready to bring my vision to life. It was a special day, with family and friends all around, and my dad joined in, helping me paint while I drew out the designs. Together, we accomplished it faster than I expected, creating a space that represents my artistic personality and the meaningful connection I’ve built with my heritage.
